Why you gotta be so vain?

Why are women so vain? When walking or talking, we are so self-absorbed it’s a real problem in modern society. Do we follow what magazines like Cosmo tell them and forget to be authentic? Women or men who truly love themselves are not vain since they are truly happy with themselves. Some of us see no need to go on and on about it, it simply is.

Women who seem vain are usually just very insecure about themselves and the way they look so in order to come across happy and together they act vain and often arrogant. Look at their faces, are they wearing a mask of makeup? They usually do, why? What are they covering, if they were truly happy with their looks they wouldn’t cover up their faces so much – that sort of vanity is just a way for insecure people to feel secure on some level.

I don’t think that it’s vanity most of the time. I think that it’s the pressure to be what society, men, and the magazines have projected is the ideal female. Women who seem self-absorbed are more than likely self-conscious and insecure.

Don’t be so hard on women. Try to understand how hard it is to be a woman in this day and time when looks and weight seem to be more important than personality or even knowledge. Why? Well, some men typically only like pretty women, therefore women have no choice then to indulge their vanity. We must only be noticing the pretty ones.

Most beautiful women are vain because they have to be, unless men stop being attracted to beautiful women and stop expecting someone who is just beautiful but one that is smart and funny. Good personality, sense of humor, and good looks rarely go hand in hand. The perfect woman doesn’t exist, sorry.

Women and men both seem to  have this problem. We are all self-absorbed and no one cares about others as they should. We are not taught the right kind of values at home, when we are young. That is happening less and less all the time. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I say don’t look at magazines to find out what you should be like. Look inside yourself. Who do you want to be? Women are expected to be beautiful in our society. Women are held to impossibly high standards.

We like to try and look pretty, but don’t have to follow the ridiculous time-consuming routine about smothering our faces in makeup every day, but perhaps only on special occasions. The less makeup, the better, because then we know that we are more real- more free.

Being bombarded with commercial visions of women in advertising and TV shows that groom themselves as sex objects doesn’t help us. That kind of message show us that we have to look great above all else. But we don’t!

Intelligence and spirituality are not always encouraged in females and really, hasn’t been for most of history. It’s an insult nowadays, for a girl to be told she has a “great personality.” But why? We should be funny, smart, and lead lives we want to. No one should ever be able to tell us what or who we should be. Who gave anyone the power to do that? We didn’t.

When guys stop worshipping at the altar of these females and female images, girls will be more free to be more real. So yeah, all those magazines aren’t helping. We live in a vain and shallow society, women are no different than men in their behavior which has been shaped by media culture. Don’t stick to the status quo, stick to who you truly believe yourself to be.
