Senior athlete Emma Smethurst commits to UCLA swim team

Emma Smethurst will swim Division I at UCLA.“I chose UCLA because it is an amazing school with an excellent swim program. I felt that it was the right school for me as soon as I stepped on the campus,” said Smethurst, whose specialty is breaststroke. “The coaches are fantastic and I know that they have helped many swimmers to improve throughout their time at UCLA.” Smethurst, a member of the Aquabears Swim Team in Walnut Creek, is going in with an undeclared major. “I am not completely sure what I want to do yet and I know I will grow as a person and my interests will change while I am in college.”
