It’s not too late in the school year to set a few personal goals.
The final stretch is fast approaching, summer is just around the corner, and the 2023-2024 school year is finally closing.
May is always a busy month for many students, especially with various AP exams, senior projects, and of course, finals. With just a few weeks ahead for Northgate, A period finals begin on Thursday, May 30 and conclude on Tuesday, June 4. With a vacation to look forward to, many students are hanging by the thread and are hoping to end the year strong.
I, along with experienced juniors Sophia Mitchell and Ava Nicolas, have compiled a list of tips on ways to stay motivated during these last few weeks.
- Prioritize. Ideally, one should begin studying for final exams at least two to three weeks before Test Day. However, many fall victim to procrastination, and before they know it, finals are a mere week away. If this is the case, there is still a way to be successful. Identify the subjects and areas that need the most work and focus on those concepts. After mastering those, move on to easier topics.
- Organize. It is easy to become overwhelmed and the amount of review material can seem daunting. Strategy is key. Allocate certain days for certain topics and stick to a specific study schedule.
- Find a space. A change of scenery can be the boost that one needs to become productive. Having a study session with classmates and friends at a Starbucks or the library can not only allow for collaboration but can also allow for more opportunities to discuss complicated concepts with others.
Take care of yourself! Make sure to get plenty of sleep and eat healthy leading up to your exams. The last thing you want is to be tired.
