Marshmallows? Skewers?
No, this group is not making s’mores – they are practicing engineering.
Those items were part of the activity and competition when the club met Sept. 19.
Seniors Ava Collado and Ethan Parks, the club leaders, held the first meeting for Northgate Engineering Basics, a club that aims to teach rudimentary concepts of engineering to Northgate students to potentially pique any interest in the field of engineering.
The group meets monthly in room 41 for engineering discussion, an activity or competition, and friendship.
At the September meeting, Collado and Parks gave a brief introduction to the club and an instructional lesson on teamwork.
They then instructed the members to use skewers and marshmallows to create the tallest structure possible while working as a team.
