Adobe Field Trip

From Oct. 15-17, 2018,  Ms. Moore and Ms. Carmen, two of Northgate’s art teachers, attended the Adobe Max Conference in Los Angeles where they had the opportunity to attend workshops, labs and keynote events.

The three day conference began with a breakfast and hands-on labs where participants were taught by leading HDR photographers.

“I took a typography workshop, a workshop on graffiti photoshop texturing by a great artist who has done a lot in San Jose, I saw a movie poster designer who has made posters for shows including The Preacher”, stated Moore.

Moore and Carmen were able to meet a variety of professionals across the art field, including typographers, videographers, and 3-D animators.

“We are working on a Symposium with DVC about how much one can get from photography, and we met a woman who employs photographers and explains how financially stable photography and graphic design is. It would be a great tool for students to show that you can make money in this field.”

Thanks to a grant, the Northgate art teachers received, Moore and Carmen will be returning to Adobe Max next year.

Not only were seminars and workshops available, but participants also had the opportunity to see Beck perform live, which Ms. Moore found especially fun.

“A creative recharge for you mind” stated an attendee.

Not only will Northgate students get to learn many of the new skills Moore and Carmen developed, but they will have the opportunity to meet people from the conference and have early access to new versions of Adobe programs.
